Pystander is my first project that I ever did in python. It is not a very impressive project by any means but it proves its worth in how useful it has been to me. This project came to be because I had the need for a simple way to export photos from my iPhone to my windows pc to clear up space.
Unfortunatly there is now real easy way to export photos from an iPhone to a windows pc that works reliable. All the methods that I found online proved to not work well or would only export a small portion of the photos before aborting. Now a simple way I used to export small batches of photos was through dropbox. So the idea was simple, write a small python script that would observe a folder in my dropbox directory on my windows pc, and everytime a file would be uploaded there it would move that file away to a different directory. This way I would be able to continueisly upload photos to my dropbox directory which would reliable make exports of all my photos without crossing the file storage limit on my dropbox.
This of course still wasn't a perfect solution but it was a clever way around a problem that I had. And proved to be an opportunity to try and put my coding skills to the test in a situation that would benefit me in a more improvisational way.
The project can be found here.
